SUMMARY:Adoption of preventative healthcare innovation in an evolving health and care economy
DESCRIPTION:The innovation opportunity for preventative healthcare is huge\, yet products\, services and concepts that could improve health\, fitness and quality of life struggle to find routes to adoption. Some of this challenge centres on the business model\, but there is more besides. \n‘Health and Care’ spans a vast spectrum from hospitals to everyday fitness and wellbeing\, drawing in highly specialised professional medical teams. and educating all age groups to make the best choices for their own long-term wellbeing. A system that is fit-for-purpose should consider these aspects and understand that value is added by preventing\, reducing or delaying demand on the increasingly complex management of illness.  However the business model that dominates at present favours intervention at much later stages. \nOur panel of speakers will provide several viewpoints\, and our goal is to stimulate thinking from both entrepreneurs and the healthcare system about what can be done differently to encourage uptake of validated products and services. You will join an audience of potential collaborators and hear new thinking which may guide your own approach to your product / service innovation. \nFollowing the discussion the floor will be opened for audience questions. \nDon’t miss out on this opportunity to gain actionable strategies and learn from the experts.

SUMMARY:The future of public health and population health leadership
DESCRIPTION:With widening health inequalities and stalling life expectancy\, the new government faces huge challenges in ensuring a ‘fairer Britain\, where everyone lives well for longer’. Improving health and reducing health inequalities requires action far beyond health care to strengthen the building blocks of health – good homes\, stable jobs and access to healthy affordable food. These challenges need the expertise and leadership of public health and population health professionals at national\, regional and local level. \nIn this webinar we will explore: \n\nlearning from The King’s Fund recent report Public health and population health: Leading together supported by the Health Foundation\nhow the distinctions between definitions of public and population health are presenting leadership challenges\nhow roles have evolved over the past 5 years\, particularly in light of the pandemic and integrated care systems\, and what that means for the future\nwhat a framework of good practice and collaboration could look like for the future of public and population health leadership.\n\n  \nSpeakers \n\nDave Buck\, Senior Fellow\, Public health and health inequalities\, The King’s Fund\nEdward Kunonga\, Director of Transformation and Population Health Management\, NECS and Director of Population Health Management\, NHS North East and North Cumbria\nSarah Price\, Director of Public Health at NHS England\nLuca Tiratelli\, Senior Researcher\, The King’s Fund\n\nChair \n\nGwen Nightingale\, Assistant Director Healthy Lives\, the Health Foundation

SUMMARY:Statistical issues in the design and analysis of research projects
DESCRIPTION:Course overview \nThis three-day course will give delegates an excellent grounding in the basics of biomedical statistics\, as well as provide a detailed introduction to other courses offered by the health data science team. It looks at the most commonly used study designs in biomedical health research\, giving the background to the theory but also teaching participants how to apply their knowledge practically and interpret their results. \nWho should attend? Is it right for me? \nThis course is aimed at anyone who requires a basic understanding of statistical techniques as part of their research studies. \nWhat will delegates learn? \nBy the end of this course\, delegates will: \n\nHave an appreciation of variability and types of data – populations\, sampling and confidence intervals\nHave a basic understanding of the concepts behind multiple regression analysis\, logistic regression and survival analysis\nHave an understanding of SPSS standard statistical software. What does the course cover?\nVariability and types of data\nPopulations\, sampling and confidence intervals\nHypothesis testing\nOverview of study design\nRegression and correlation\nMultiple linear regression and an introduction to logistic regression and survival analysis\nData analysis using SPSS software.
