SUMMARY:Devices & Diagnostics: Turning data into better care
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our next Innovation Club exploring how data from devices\, diagnostics and digital tools is translated into practical\, patient centred care across the healthcare system. This is been delivered as a hybrid session so either join us in person at the Innovation Pop Up (light lunch provided) or online. \n  \nSpeakers: \nDr Andrea Utley – Head of Impact & Innovation\, Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds \nAndrea will present findings from three studies assessing the accuracy and efficacy of the Yuwell Anytime continuous glucose monitor. She leads Impact and Innovation in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds\, working with industry partners on research that supports product development at local\, national and international level.\nTsitsi Chinyandura – Founder of Lotessa Digital Health \nTsitsi will present Lotessa\, her Leeds‑based\, patient‑led digital health platform supporting people prescribed GLP‑1 medications such as Wegovy and Mounjaro. Developed from lived experience\, it supports patients and clinicians across the GLP‑1 pathway\, including BMI verification\, medication logging\, adherence monitoring and side‑effect management. \n  \nMr Paul Nix – Consultant Otolaryngology\, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust \nPaul will share evidence from a pilot study on Steriwave nasal photodisinfection\, showing how a rapid\, clinician‑led intervention can dramatically reduce surgical site infections. It will explore the implications for patient outcomes\, antibiotic stewardship and wider NHS system productivity. \n  \nDr Nick Gompertz – CEO and founder of EarSwitch  \nNick will present EarSwitch\, an in‑ear technology that captures biometric signals from the ear canal to support more inclusive monitoring and interaction. It will explore how this approach can enable more accessible\, dignified care across assistive technology and future health monitoring.

SUMMARY:Essential Guide to Grant Applications (EGGA)
DESCRIPTION:Our Essential Guide to Grant Applications (EGGA) is a free-to-attend\, online\, three-day masterclass\, funded and hosted by NIHR RSS USP\, on how to write a grant application for applied health or social care research that is strong from a methodological point of view\, reads well and presents a convincing case for funding. The event will cover important writing tips\, along with guidance on what reviewers will be looking for in an application. Attendees will learn how to make their research idea clear and compelling to reviewers\, how to write a good methods section and how to demonstrate credible support. \nThe online masterclass focuses on how to sell your research idea by: \n\n\nwriting a convincing application with a good structure\, flow and argument; \n\n\npresenting a strong methods section\, including statistical\, qualitative\, health economics and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) elements; \n\n\nhaving a good project plan; \n\n\nengaging with sources of external support for your research.

SUMMARY:OHT Better HealthTech by Design: Better Together: Clinicians + Designers in the NHS
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\n\n\n\nExploring why innovation in healthcare often fails at adoption and how a wider\, UX-led approach can create meaningful change long before technology is fully implemented. \n \nDrawing from real NHS case studies across rheumatology\, cardiology\, and neurology\, this session shares lessons from designing services with clinicians\, patients\, and multidisciplinary teams to improve pathways\, reduce friction\, and build trust in complex healthcare environments. \n \nRather than focusing purely on technology\, this talk explores how human-centred design\, collaboration\, and behavioural understanding can drive sustainable innovation in the NHS. \n \nSpeakers\nLaura Smith\, Service Designer and Researcher\, Unboxed \nDr William Bradlow\, Cardiology Consultant\, University Hospital Birmingham

SUMMARY:Who owns healthtech innovation?
DESCRIPTION:For surgeons and clinicians with research and ideas\, and nowhere to take them. \nYou’ve seen the problem at the bedside. You’ve done the research. You may even have published it. And then – nothing moves. \nGetting an innovation to a patient is the hard part\, and we are rarely taught how to do it. This event will show you how. \nJoin RCS England’s Innovation Hub and the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) for a day that follows healthtech innovation through its whole life – from first spark to NHS adoption – and puts one question on trial at every stage: whose job is it to carry it forward?

SUMMARY:Is Leeds the digital driving force behind the UK’s health mission? YOU BET!
DESCRIPTION:AI. Data. Digital health. Innovation at scale. Discover how Leeds is already setting the pace\, and place your bets on what’s next! \n\n\n\n\nThe UK’s health system is betting big on digital. And Leeds is where the future is already being built.\nAt the heart of the NHS 10 Year Health Plan are the Five Big Bets: data\, AI\, genomics\, wearables and robotics. These technologies are expected to transform everything from how health services are delivered and diseases prevented\, to how patients manage their own care – creating significant opportunities for innovators\, investors and businesses. \nHome to world-leading health data\, pioneering NHS partnerships\, thriving tech businesses and a track record of turning innovation into real-world impact\, Leeds has become one of the UK’s most influential digital health hubs. It’s no surprise this is where Leeds Digital Festival – the largest tech event of its kind in the UK – takes place. \nJoin Health Innovation Leeds this September for a fast-moving\, interactive session exploring why the government has chosen Leeds to drive forward the country’s health mission\, and what that means for innovators. \nYou’ll hear from a rotating panel of leaders from across health\, technology and industry\, and take part in the conversation as we explore the Five Big Bets – in particular\, what they mean for the future of digital health\, and where the biggest opportunities lie for businesses looking to grow in Leeds.
