SUMMARY:OHT Better HealthTech by Design: Better Together: Clinicians + Designers in the NHS
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\n\n\n\nExploring why innovation in healthcare often fails at adoption and how a wider\, UX-led approach can create meaningful change long before technology is fully implemented. \n \nDrawing from real NHS case studies across rheumatology\, cardiology\, and neurology\, this session shares lessons from designing services with clinicians\, patients\, and multidisciplinary teams to improve pathways\, reduce friction\, and build trust in complex healthcare environments. \n \nRather than focusing purely on technology\, this talk explores how human-centred design\, collaboration\, and behavioural understanding can drive sustainable innovation in the NHS. \n \nSpeakers\nLaura Smith\, Service Designer and Researcher\, Unboxed \nDr William Bradlow\, Cardiology Consultant\, University Hospital Birmingham

SUMMARY:Who owns healthtech innovation?
DESCRIPTION:For surgeons and clinicians with research and ideas\, and nowhere to take them. \nYou’ve seen the problem at the bedside. You’ve done the research. You may even have published it. And then – nothing moves. \nGetting an innovation to a patient is the hard part\, and we are rarely taught how to do it. This event will show you how. \nJoin RCS England’s Innovation Hub and the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) for a day that follows healthtech innovation through its whole life – from first spark to NHS adoption – and puts one question on trial at every stage: whose job is it to carry it forward?

SUMMARY:Is Leeds the digital driving force behind the UK’s health mission? YOU BET!
DESCRIPTION:AI. Data. Digital health. Innovation at scale. Discover how Leeds is already setting the pace\, and place your bets on what’s next! \n\n\n\n\nThe UK’s health system is betting big on digital. And Leeds is where the future is already being built.\nAt the heart of the NHS 10 Year Health Plan are the Five Big Bets: data\, AI\, genomics\, wearables and robotics. These technologies are expected to transform everything from how health services are delivered and diseases prevented\, to how patients manage their own care – creating significant opportunities for innovators\, investors and businesses. \nHome to world-leading health data\, pioneering NHS partnerships\, thriving tech businesses and a track record of turning innovation into real-world impact\, Leeds has become one of the UK’s most influential digital health hubs. It’s no surprise this is where Leeds Digital Festival – the largest tech event of its kind in the UK – takes place. \nJoin Health Innovation Leeds this September for a fast-moving\, interactive session exploring why the government has chosen Leeds to drive forward the country’s health mission\, and what that means for innovators. \nYou’ll hear from a rotating panel of leaders from across health\, technology and industry\, and take part in the conversation as we explore the Five Big Bets – in particular\, what they mean for the future of digital health\, and where the biggest opportunities lie for businesses looking to grow in Leeds.

SUMMARY:LTHT: Care Beyond the Bedside: The Leeds Virtual Wards Model
DESCRIPTION:Join Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber  to find out how virtual wards are transforming patient care\, with a model that is easily scalable and applicable to any hospital. \nThe Leeds virtual ward uses very little tech and involves non specialist nurses to deliver care remotely – achieving huge bed savings and cost efficiencies. \nFeedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive for the hospital-level of care they are receiving at home\, with 93 per cent saying they would recommend virtual wards. \nData will be presented from two randomised trials and two health economic evaluations\, to share the proven benefits of a model that is used in multiple specialties including cardiology\, surgery recovery and oncology. \nThis event will bring together clinicians\, operational leaders\, digital teams\, patients\, NHS partners and system leaders to share practical learning\, celebrate success\, and explore future opportunities for service transformation.
