SUMMARY:Cardiovascular disease: new ways to detect risk and improve outcomes
DESCRIPTION:Cardiovascular disease (conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels) accounts for around 1 in 4 deaths in the UK each year. \n  \nA person’s risk of cardiovascular disease depends on their blood pressure\, weight\, cholesterol\, smoking status\, family history\, and other factors. Identifying an individual’s risk allows preventative measures\, such as changes in lifestyle or taking medicines\, to reduce risk and improve health outcomes. \n  \nAn assessment of cardiovascular risk is part of routine care\, during the NHS Health Check\, for example\, but more can be done to optimise the identification of risk for the future. Join this webinar to learn about NIHR research on 3 promising new ways to identify people at risk of heart and circulation problems using information from clinical care that could enable intervention at an earlier stage leading to improved outcomes. Presentations will be followed by a Q&A session. \n  \nThis 1-hour online webinar will cover new tools to predict future cardiovascular risk including \n\na heart disease calculator.\nan AI-enabled ECG\nAI analysis of heart scans.\n\n  \nPresenters include: \n-Professor Julia Hippisley-Cox \n– Dr Fu Siong Ng \n– Dr Kenneth Chan \n  \nNIHR is the health and social care research arm of the nation. We drive life-changing research for the health and wealth of our society. BMJ Group are working with NIHR to maximise the impact of health and care research and strengthen collaboration with people and communities. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Introduction to NICE healthtech evaluation
DESCRIPTION:About this event  \nNICE is transforming its approach to healthtech assessment\, but what does this mean for your product? With around 2 million healthtech products registered for UK use\, standing out from the competition is vital. \nThis online seminar is designed for healthtech developers and market access specialists who want to understand how to successfully navigate NICE’s new healthtech assessment process and maximise their product’s potential for positive evaluation. \n  \nWhat you’ll gain   \nGet your evidence and strategy right first time with accurate\, actionable advice direct from NICE. As the NHS in England’s health technology assessment body\, NICE is uniquely placed to help you demonstrate your product’s value effectively. \nWhether you’re uncertain about eligibility\, the assessment process\, or how best to engage with NICE\, this session will provide clarity and equip you for effective collaboration. \n  \nWhat we’ll cover  \nBased on NICE’s updated healthtech programme manual published earlier this year\, you’ll gain clarity on the key areas that matter most to your product’s success: \n\nUnderstanding selection criteria – learn what factors influence whether your healthtech product will be prioritised for NICE assessment.\nThe lifecycle approach – explore how NICE’s recommendations adapt for technologies at different stages of NHS adoption\, from early innovation to established use.\nStrengthening your evidence base – discover practical ways to improve the usability and impact of your real-world evidence.\nEffective stakeholder engagement – understand how to contribute meaningfully to the assessment process and make the most of engagement opportunities.\nIncorporating patient perspectives – learn how people with lived experience contribute to guidance development and how their voices shape recommendations.\n\nOur aim is to drive innovation into the hands of health and care professionals to enable best practice.

SUMMARY:NIHR Open Research publishing options webinar
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to find out more about your publishing options with NIHR Open Research? \nThis session will introduce the open publishing and peer review model used by NIHR Open Research\, including advice for first-time authors and NIHR grantees.  \nNIHR Open Research provides all NIHR-funded researchers with a place to publish any results they think are worth sharing. Submissions to NIHR OR are subject to editorial checks that ensure the robustness\, quality\, and transparency of the underlying research. Expert reviewers are then selected and invited\, and their reports and names are published alongside the article\, post-publication. \nThis webinar will include a presentation on the publication requirements for NIHR Open Research\, and the submission\, revision\, and post-publication open peer review workflows. We will provide advice for authors on how to ensure that submissions meet the requirements for open publishing\, and how to engage with the revision and peer review process that follows – and you will also have the opportunity to hear from a NIHR grantee and NIHR Open Research author about their experience of using the platform to publish their research. There will be a Q&A and the session will be recorded for registrants who are unable to attend live. \n\nRegister to attend the NIHR Open Research webinar\, taking place at 11am\, 25 September. \nAll registrants will receive a recording of the webinar afterwards.
