MSK & obesity – The way forward for providers, clinicians, campaigners and policy makers
October 19 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
The purpose of this online meeting is to align everyone interested in the inter-relationship between poor musculoskeletal health and obesity with an agreed set of actions. The audience of providers, clinicians, campaigners and policy makers will debate a range of issues including:
- Lack of access to holistic care – How can the system deliver better integrated services to support the interaction between MSK pain, obesity, deconditioning, mental health and wider inequalities?
- Access to surgery for high BMI patients – How can we move towards evidence-based, person-centred surgical decision making, rather than an oversimplistic focus on arbitrary BMI thresholds?
- Prehabilitation & rehabilitation – What support and interventions are needed?
- Use of weight‑management medications – What additional evidence do we need to inform surgical guidelines?
The webinar is hosted by Orthopaedic Research UK, in association with the Obesity Health Alliance, Arthritis UK, Arthritis & Musculoskeletal Alliance, and the National Orthopaedic Alliance. It will feature short presentations from clinicians and other experts on this topic plus plenty of opportunity for debate.
